Shenanigans
(10-15) 08:50 PDT SANTA CLARA -- A Santa Clara police officer has been arrested on suspicion of passing confidential information to a member of the Hells Angels, authorities said.
Clay Rojas, 36, a five-year veteran of the Santa Clara Police Department, allegedly supplied private Department of Motor Vehicles information about people to William Bettencourt, 38, a member of the Santa Cruz chapter of the Hells Angels.
Bettencourt passed along some of the information to Viviana Rodriguez, 31, of San Jose, according to police and the Santa Clara County district attorney's office.
Rojas knew that Bettencourt was a member of the Hells Angels, "but the relationship between and the motives of the defendants continue to be investigated," police said.
Rojas, Bettencourt and Rodriguez were arrested Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy and booked at Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose.
Santa Clara Police Chief Steve Lodge said no other officers have been implicated.
"This incident tarnishes the good name of our department and our profession, but at the end of the day, I believe this is an isolated incident limited to one employee," Lodge said in a statement. "He made some incredibly bad decisions that amount to criminal conduct."

I'm guessing they won't throw him in with the rest of the general population. They usually keep high profile criminals & former LEO's in some sort of protective custody.

You don't have to guess, you can BET on it.
Someone tell me the last time any cop was put in GP.
Thing I wonder is whether it's actually a law that they MUST put them in PC?
Would seem reasonable, as failing to do so would easily show lack of judgement and negligence in caring for the inmate to a future jury...

It'll wind up there when it degenerates into bashing, so don't worry -- this thread will definitely get its day in the sink.
But, for right now, it meets the three pronged test for this forum:
- Motorcycles (HA)
- Law enforcement (sadly)
- Bay Area (Unless Santa Clara has been moved.)

Someone asked if HA was still active.
The answer is a very loud yes. They are more active in some areas than others, but in Northern California, yes. And no, they aren't just delivering toys to poor children.

So what's the real deal here?
The info the cop handed over - was it information and identification of a CI snitch?
